Aurora borealis over Denali - Denali National Park, Alaska (2018)
A stunning aurora display dances across the night sky above Denali, casting an ethereal glow over North America’s tallest mountain. After waiting out poor weather for weeks, the forecast finally called for clear skies in mid September which happened to coincide with the prediction of possible aurora displays. On our second night in the Denali backcountry, the aurora appeared around midnight ebbing and flowing across the sky throughout the night. Staring out at the Alaska Range with the northern lights shimmering overhead was undoubtably the highlight of a trip to Alaska filled with many extraordinary sights and experiences.
